Border Collies Prove Effective in controlling wildlife at airports

This is an interesting article which describes a project to have border collies drive birds and deer from an airport to reduce the incident of plane bird strikes.

The key thing is that the dogs need to be trained for a couple of months before they could be effective and need contiinual training. This makes sense, a dog may stumble across a bird accidentally but unless it knows what scent it is looking for a bird scent will be just one of the backgrould smells in its world.

This must bring in question the effectiveness of seasonal closures in Boulders.
